Art

Art gives me the power to express my love of color, the earth, and my emotions.

I am a visual artist, lover of color, and painter. I create art for the pure joy of the exper@localartmattersience, as a place to go, and to share my experience of the world around me. My paintings, like me, tend to be vibrant, happy, and engaging. I try to leave space in my artwork for the viewer’s journey through my use of loose brush strokes and a palette knife. I find abstraction to be a great space to express emotions and to convey my relationships to nature and others.

Experiencing art with others strengthens our connection to those around us, helping to create a vibe of understanding, respe@localartmattersct and inclusion, the world I want to live in.

I create large, abstract, landscape oil paintings, and small, vibrant, brightly-colored animals

What’s the story behind your work?

I initially turned to drawing and painting as a way to create a personal sanctuary while I was feeling unfulfilled in a previous desk job. Now that I am a full-time artist, I continue to create joyful works that reflect my positive outlook and happiness.

What do you hope people will feel when they see it?

I hope the positive energy and emotions I pour into my work resonate with the viewer; I always strive to create that meaningful connection point.

How does your work connect to community or bring people together?

I believe that sharing my paintings, story, and energy through exhibits, community events, and retail outlets allows me to have a positive effect on those around me.

Who helped you along the way?

I received incredible support from my spouse and adult children, as well as from my classmates when I made the decision to return to college.

How do you give back/support others?

I donate artwork to auctions for the Heard Foundation/With Love From Duxbury and the ConfKids Foundation. I am also working to establish a scholarship for a Massasoit Community College student graduating with a focus on fine arts, similar to the support I once received.
